Michele Bachmann has won a lot of friends over the years because of her ideas, energy and good humor as well as her willingness to take battles to the left. Her presidential campaign took off after a great New Hampshire debate added to her pre-existing base of friendly supporters built over years of appearances on talk radio and on cable television.
Then a new team of handlers arrived led by Ed Rollins and Bachmann disappeared from the airwaves and adopted an insider approach to everything. Now the whacky left is savaging her and the Beltway-Manhattan media is sinking their teeth into her, and she’s still on the bench.
It isn’t too late for Michele to be Michele again, but she and her old staff have got to ask themselves whether the new team has done them much good at all. Bachmann needs to be back out in the media and leading from the front.
