Congressional Support for Israel:More Than Words?

Friday, July 21, 2006  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

As noted below, the House joined the Senate in passing resolutions in support of Israel this week, and both actions were welcome reminders of where America stands.

Now what about money? And arms?

Israel must be burning through cash and equipment at rate not seen in years.  It is our ally in the war against global terror, and it is under continuing terrorist attack.  (I covered the specifics in my interview with Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Daniel Ayalon yesterday, but the number of rocket/missile attacks on Israel is now well past 1,200.)

The United States has never hesitated to assist our wartime allies with money and supplies in past conflicts, and we should keep that tradition now via a special appropriation for Israel’s resupply.

Use the tools at to contact your Congressman.  I’ll try and get a poll on the question posted at later today, and perhaps some additional tools as well. Your comments on the proposal are welcome below.
