Commentary’s Optimist/Pessimist Symposium

Commentary Magazine has a long and distinguished tradition of issues devoted to a symposium addressing a single question.

The new issue asks 41 different writers if they are an optimist or a pessimist.

I was honored to be asked to contribute and cheered to see that my essay is online at Contentions blog.

The big three pieces in the issue hail from editor John Podhoretz, columnist-to-the-world Mark Steyn, and the man I think the most gifted essayist on the planet Joseph Epstein.

If you aren’t already a subscriber –and you should be– this would be an issue you will want to have and keep, if only to prove half of the contributors wrong.
