Colorado Amendment 43
Here in the Rocky Mountain State there is a Marriage Amendment, Amendment #43, which reads:
“Only the union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in the state of colorado.”
Coloradans for Marriage leads the campaign for approval, and a competing ballot measure, Referendum I confuses the situation, while same sex marriage proponents hope if not to beat 43 outright, to hold down the margin of approval so as to proclaim it a victory relative to the 19 straight defeats they have suffered as marriage amendment after marriage amendment have passed in the U.S.
As talk inside the Beltway grows of the indifference of faith based voters to this November’s elections, the intensity of the pro-Amendement 43 forces suggests a very different dynamic at work.
