“Collision 2012: Obama vs. Romney and the Future of Elections in America” by Dan Balz
Collision 2012: Obama vs. Romney and the Future of Elections in America by Dan Balz is a fine book, reported very carefully as one would expect from the dean of D.C. reporters, and written beautifully. It also provides some new revelations which shocked me as I had not seen them reported in the press, underscoring that the nature of campaign coverage depends very much on what you read and when you read it. I read most of the material written on campaigns and most of the post-mortems, but Balz has details I have never seen and which we will discuss when I interview him on the program.
Bottom line: You will greatly enjoy this book if you love politics. If you are one of the candidates listed in the 2016 HH Line 1.0 or on any of their staffs or hoping to be, or hoping to be one of their running mates, read this book. Study it. So much was done right by Mitt Romney, but a few errors by him and his team, just a few, cost him the presidency and put this country into a four year ditch which just keeps getting deeper and deeper.
