…is murder with ugly motive in ugly circumstances. One would think that would be enough for the nation to mourn. But no, the professional outragers and political opportunists have wasted no time – thus reducing the victims from people to pawns. There is no time to consider the humanity of the situation for if you are not outraged you are on the defensive. And thus those who wish to mourn – mourn for the victims and the circumstances – also have some of their humanity taken from them. This is not answering evil, this is compounding it.
So I find I must also mourn for the nation as well, a nation rapidly losing touch with its humanity. And as I mourn I am frightened for the future, so I turn to prayer. That is enough for now.
