Lots of email about yesterday’s conversation with President Bush (transcript here). Most commented on was his discussion of his Christian faith and his relationship with Vladimir Putin, but I found myself wishing I had spent more time talking about books with him.
So I googled up Brian Lamb and George Bush and, sure enough, here’s an interview from 2005 wherein America’s best promoter of books and reading interviews W. It has some additional detail but it is still pretty thin on the contents of the president’s bookshelf.
When W’s tour is over I will put in a request for an interview limited to books and see what happens. In the meantime, here’s the link to The Aquariums of Pyongyang by Chol-hwan Kang and Pierre Rigoulot which is the most obscure of the books the president mentioned in our conversation yesterday.
