There is a vast universe of God-blogs, and within it many systems of Roman Catholic blogs, like Father Z‘s, Harvesting the Fruits of Contemplation, Beginning to Pray, and thousands of others.

Each of the authors of these thousands is already aware and outraged –often in the gentlest of ways– with the president’s assault on every Catholic university, hospital, parochial school, charitable enterprise. Some have already written about it, but they will all have been talking about it to their circles of immediate friends. The Roman Catholic “long tail” is already informed and just beginning to act.

The HHS regs are a disaster for the president for, as Peter Wehner said on my show, they reveal his genuinely radical tendencies and his deep anti-Catholic bias. Phoenix Archbishop Olmsted will join me on Monday’s show to discuss what he and other bishops will do next, but it won’t be about retreat and compromise.

The president’s decision to attack the Roman Catholic Church and the First Amendment nine months before an election ranks among the dumbest moves ever, and there is no unringing the bell he has rung.
