Today’s program is a long interview with author Bernard Cornwell (his official website is here), the creator of Richard Sharpe and Patrick Harper and the guide for millions to the Napoleonic wars from India to Waterloo as well as Viking and Medieval England, the American Civil War an most recently, the American Revolution in his new novel The Fort.

Start with Sharpe’s Tiger in India and read or listen to the books in chronological order, from the 1799 until 1815. You’ll thank me for nudging you and Cornwell for his art. These novels are an excellent way to take a younger reader deep into history’s delights. By the time you reach Sharpe’s Trafalgar you will be thanking your stars that you discovered Cornwell deep into his career with hours and hours more pleasure ahead.
