Atop The New York Times Best Sellers List, and Eric Metaxas’ Bonhoeffer
I greatly enjoy the Book section’s podcast, but if the politics of the paper bleeds too much into the coverage of books, that will be the end of that. Take for instance the snarky opening to the “Inside the List” column this week. That’s the way to open a note about the unusual Christmas season one-two punch? Editor Sam Tanenhaus needs to protect the brand that, while reliably lefty, doesn’t actually work overtime to drive center-right readers away.
One more book note for the weekend: Eric Metaxas appeared on Glenn Beck’s television show yesterday and Eric’s magnificent biography of Dietrich Bonhoffer flew up to the top ten on Amazon, an attention and sales pace the book richly deserves. Pile on and get a copy for your favorite reader.
