It is coming. And as the writer points out, the iPad may help save journalism.
My Kindle already carries subscriptions from the Times of London, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and Politico.com. If all of those become even easier to read via the iPad, the iPad will win. if the price point drops just a bit, even people whose jobs don’t require them to read that many papers will subscribe.
(Note to the Kindle team at Amazon.com: Why doesn’t the Times of London download at 5 PM Pacific, the same time that the paper changes over on the web? Why don’t the other papers become available at 9 PM Pacific? Why isn’t the Cleveland Plan Dealer’s sport page available for subscription –and just the sports section? If it and the sports section of many other big city papers were available, thousands of ex-pats from those cities now living elsewhere would sign up for their morning fix of home town sports news.)
