“American Stories” and “Framing America”
There is a wonderful exhibit at the Los Angles County Museum of Art, “American Stories,” which has recently opened there after originally appearing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
In an effort to get more people to go and see it, I will be discussing it on today’s show with Pomona College professor Frances Pohl, author of Framing America: A Social History of American Art whom I met at LAMA yesterday.
This is the sort of exhibit to which, in days past, entire schools of children would be sent. George Caleb Bingham’s “The County Election” is among the many memorable paintings included in the show.
