Last night Rachel Maddow attacked me and some of my colleagues on the Salem Radio Network as “old white guys.”
Of course Al Sharpton isn’t white, but he is a couple of years older than me, and Ed Schultz is also ahead of me, though future MSNBC host Alec Baldwin is two years younger than me (though not younger than Mike Gallagher.)
Hey, have at it Rachel. It is a tough business, and Paul Harvey proved that it isn’t the age that matters, but the talent.
But you might want to check with the lawyers about all the age discrimination complaints filed against NBC —see here and here for starters. If I were the lawyers for any of those “old people fired by NBC” I’d love to play your rant against “old white guys” for the jury. Clearly you are reflecting your company’s bias against people over 50. That sort of bias is illegal –and expensive.
