That’s what happened yesterday – a very normal result for a first term midterm election. No “blue wave.” A few Senate Dems got punished for Kavanaugh and a few out-there lefties won in the House, but essentially this was business-as-usual. This is what the United States of America typically looks like.
And now the media has a choice in what picture they are going to paint. I am already seeing stories about “a divided Congress reflects a divided nation.” Nonsense, the nation is never truly of one mind or of one party. That we differ is a given, it is how we differ that matters. And that is where the picture the media paints matters.
They can keep ranting about “divisions,” likely with a lot of help from the shriller voices in the House, and continue to drive a wedge and fan the flames, and deepen the divide. Or they can look at what happened, see a nation returning to normal and calm down. I am hoping and praying for the latter – the shrill voices in the House notwithstanding.
