Because I am speaking tonight to an AIPAC meeting about the PCUSA’s church absurd divestment discussion, I googled the subject to catch up on new developments. To my surprise and pleasure, I found this column in today’s Harvard Crimson, which correctly labels the divestment policy a “political hatchet job.” Well done. And from an Elliot House resident no less. There is also good news from the Presbytery of Mississippi —which will force a reassessment of the policy at the next general Assembly of the PCUSA in the summer of 2006. Friends of Israel should make a point of engaging the Presbyterians in their life on this issue and asking them to ask their sessions to take actions to support the move from Mississippi.
